Paul W. Carlson, CPA (00:00):

Hi, this is Paul Carlson, CPA with Law Firm Velocity. In this video, we're looking at a lead source report. Now, This is a favorite report of mine to run for monthly controller meetings with law firm clients, is that we run a report of all the leads we've generated for the month and we count how many leads we receive for each lead source. And we'll even put this into a chart so we can graph these over time.

(00:26):

What we're looking for is number of new leads that we will usually know how many leads we need each month to make our sales goals. And so, this will tell us if our marketing activity met that goal or not. Looking for trends to confirm that each lead source is continuing to work. And then we're going to take a look at these counts. So the results versus the income statement. That if I'm looking at the income statement and we spent $2,000 last month on Yelp ads and we received no leads from Yelp, well, we certainly know that we've identified a problem within the marketing system and we need to research that.

(01:20):

So where did this report come from? Let's pop over into Pipedrive. Now, this is the graphical CRM that we like to make this report work. All that we've done is within each deal we added a custom field of lead source. This is actually a pull down list so you can define the lead sources and people have to pick from one of these as you don't have people typing in all kinds of different stuff. Once that field is defined and populated, when we look at the list view, we can see the lead source by each of the different deals. And from here, you've simply exported over into Excel and run a sort and subtotal, and we have this report.

(02:08):

So with that, we've looked at a lead source report. Very powerful to confirm the effectiveness of current marketing activities and expenditures. If you need any accounting help with your law firm, please give us a shout at Law Firm Velocity. Thank you. Bye-Bye.
